The Ryde Business Forum hosted another successful Boardroom Breakfast on 17 June with Ivan Gavran (AltusQ) and Ashley Baldry (Work Test) presenting a relaxed Employee Engagement Workshop for its members.
This really was a ‘hands on’ workshop with Ivan focusing on the reasons why measuring Employee Engagement is so important and Ashley focusing on the process required to deliver an Employee Engagement project.
WHY EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT MATTERS
Ivan presented some compelling research that clearly shows that organisations that measure engagement are more likely to have higher capability scores relating to profitability, sales, productivity, client retention and staff retention, while organisations that don’t measure engagement have lower overall capability scores.
Participants were then led through a series of exercises that showed that different types of employees (underminer, stayer, achiever, and true believer) and leadership mindsets (reactive vs creative) can have a significant influence on engagement and capability.
DELIVERING AN EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT PROJECT
Ashley then provided participants with an overview of a typical Employee Engagement project including survey design, administration, reporting and behaviour change strategies.
Participants were then provided with a sample questionnaire and report that measured key indicators of Employee Engagement including future vision, trust, communication, recognition, growth and development and support and inclusion.
Ivan then concluded by saying that engagement alone is not enough to ensure organisational success and provided some further insights into how capable leaders can enable their employees to reach their full potential.
I found both sessions quite valuable and will be applying some of the principles raised in my business…Ivan and Ashley are quite innovative in their approach and are both clearly subject-matter experts. (Tony Kabrovski, Partner, HLB Mann Judd)
